New water pump is installed with new thermostat, belt, and extended life coolant with conditioner. Guess who leaked upon start up........... While reassembling it I put my hand on the alternator and it was locked solid. WHY GOD WHY. we took the alternator apart and some black plastic pieces fell out then it would spin. The thermostat manifold is who leaked. I oiled the o-ring and sanded the manifold but it still leaked. So we tore it back down and blue glued it also. I will check it in the morning when I juice her back up . Pray for her guys.
If the TS housing is still leaking, i highly recommend the Billet TS Housing from Dieselsite, leaps and bounds better than the POS OEM one.
i purchased a open end wrench with a rod linkage that attaches to a air hammer off snap on truck its not snapon brand i will have to let you know how well it works when i get to it in couple weeks

This sounds interesting. Don't forget pics on your follow-up post.
wow some of these things must really be stuck. I have change my twice first time by myself with the cheap rent a tools from Oriely. Snap On has a nice tool to hold the pully just screw it down with the little bolts. I was going to buy one but could not catch up with the truck so I made a template of the pully and plan on just making one myself.
I really think it is worth taking the radiator out too. Doesnt take long at all and gives you alot of room.
I used a chain wrench and 18 inch crescent wrench too, I put the chain wrench handle against the alternator pulley and hit the end of the crescent wrench with a dead blow, 2 hits and it was off. I had lots of room after pulling the fan and shroud. Mine was puking from the weep hole on the pump.
I got the Napa pump, t-stat, new hoses including the dual alt upper hose. It ran me 225 out the door with 3 gallons of Anti freeze. I reused my t-stat neck it was just fine. I even reused the antifreeze after filtering it through a shop rag in a funnel to get the crap that dropped in the pan out of the coolant. It was less then a year old as it was all replaced when I had the oil cooler resealed.
I only ended up needing a gallon of antifreeze. I guess I wore about that amount when I pulled the lower hose off and it missed the drain pan....

Yeah i did the same thing when I pulled the hose off. I wan in to big of a hurry to drain it through the petcock I guess.
My $.02 (usd):I myself wouldn't be whacking on the pump shaft with anything.
I use a 12 inch pipe wrench with a 6 ft cheater pipe up top, and an el cheapo pulley holder tool on a cheater down below braced against the concrete. righty loosey, lefty tighty.
Gotta purge the silicates from the system since they are abrasive to the pump seal. a coffee filter worked for me after a hose flush into the lower radiator hose.
I'm not convinced of the benefits of ELC, I'm a green coolant with blue juice additive every 6 mos kind of person.
