I was adding a quart of oil today and noticed that there wasn’t an o-ring under the oil fill cap. It looks like there is a place for one in the space between the threads and the cap.<O</O <O</O Here is a photo of the style of oil fill cap on my truck.<O</O Thanks, Jim .
Seriously, I believe there is supposed to be some sort of rubber seal on the bottom of that cap. Not sure if it would actually qualify as an "O-ring", but nonetheless, should be there.
You can replace that cap with one from ANY Ford (I mean cars too) up to 96ish. The later ones have a shorter threaded section but will still work fine.
Just so you know if you're at the JY, or like me the Ford dealer doesn't keep part numbers for anything pre- 94
