hello-
My '76 f250 with 360 - 2V has starting problems. If the truck sits for a few days it takes several cranks before it fires. I replaced the accelerator pump diaphragm, but that didn't solve the problem. Could fuel leak into the intake eventually leaving the carburetor dry? Any ideas?
Once you get it started, does it start okay later the same day? A hot motor will heat the carb and boil the fuel out, so there is none for the next start-up. The easiest cure for this is a plastic carb spacer, worked for my 390 with perculation problems.
I had the same problem with the big 3. I had a gas leak in the tank, so I replaced it and put on a after market fuel filter, like $2 and took out the one on the sender, tightened up all the Vac lines and the carb lines and fuel lines. Might just be your fuel draining back to the tank after it sits, so check all your lines, hope it helps!
Then it sounds like your fuel is draining back out of the carb. Could be due to a bad float, bad needle-seat valve in carb or bad fuel pump or combination of all.
