04 6.0L Thud sound at idle

hello,

I have a 04 6.0L and I just noticed a lower thud sound coming from the driver side engine compartment. You can't hear it at all on the passenger side, but from the wheel well i can a slight "thud" "thud" sound from engine. what could this be? you can also hear it more from underneath the engine than the top.

Thanks,
Greg

Do you have your heat or ac on?

It could be your ac compressor cycling on and off.

That's what I'm hoping for. .. I might have just noticed minor surging at idle.

The "thud" you hear is the door in the heater that directs the heat to the various places.(.defrost,floor,dashvents)..slamming shut upon startup because of lack of or increase of vacuum. .

I thought something was broken for a few months. It put my mind at ease finding this out.

Edit: OOPS, I didn't see it was reoccurring until I reread your posts. Maybe still be the door opening and slamming..possibly a vacuum leak is making the door open and shut repeatedly.

Do you get any exhaust smell in the cab at all? Check for soot on the firewall around the up pipe and Y pipe and all around the manifold. Maybe the bellow on the up pipe is cracked.

Also check for intake leaks.

The was told the thud sound was normal, and the P132B code turned out to be the MAF sensor, replaced it, has power back.
