And aluminum doesn't stand up to road hazards as well as steel. I've had both, I prefer alloy until I have to pay to replace one. Until someone brings out a stainless steel rim (don't even think about price!) there's no optimum solution. Plan B: painted steel spokers are a lot cheaper. Just clean them up and re-paint them as required

I'm with StrangeRanger for the most part. Up here in the frozen north the Salt & now the Brine that they drizzle on our roads 150 days a year kills alloy wheels. But if you must reduce your sprung weight. ie: a Truck-rod or Mini-Hauler the only way to do it is with alloys. So park them pretty toys in the winter, drive a Bronco with real steel wheels and tall skinny tires and pray for Summer.

well i go with the chrome steel cause they stand up to wheeling better than alloys. besides...if i bang up a chrome steel i'm out 70 bucks....an alloy...upwards of 150. The best way to go is forged.....but their pricey.

Chrome will rust but just keep your old rims and tires and swaps between the two during the winter> Ive never really heard of rims rusting in the summer
