1996 psd injector problem

1996 psd injector problem

hello, fairly new to this forum and diesels. question is: i have a knocking sound, somewhat sharp noise. it was over # 8 hole, so trying to find what it was, i moved that injector to #2 hole, noise followed. by using the hose for listening, it definitely can be heard when placed over the solenoid. at this point i installed a reman. injector, still knocked. then i bought a new injector still knocks. if i unplug that injector solenoid the knock goes away. compression is 390-400# on that bank. i've done other troubleshooting also, but won't list unless asked, don't want to confuse the issue. what the heck is going on? any help will be appreciated.

I personally never had a diesel but I would think listing every thing you have done (mods, troubleshooting, ect, ect) would help, wouldn't hurt to know whats been done to try and see if maybe something that has been done is the root cause or could at least be eliminated as to being the issue...anyways you may want to try the PSD section as you may get better (more?) help as well as its an engine specific area, also listing the type of engine would help with aiding you in resolving the issue (5.0, 6.0, 7.0, ect, ect) since you have the 96 PSD im guessing this would be the section you would want to look into 1994.5 - 1997 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums anyways welcome to FTE!!
