Question Looking for input PLEASE

Changing my fuel filter, looked in bottom of bowl and seen alot of particals and like cruosin pieces. Question is- Is there a fuel heating element in bowl? If so could this be from it? Like I've mentioned in the past when I start my truck it still runs like a gas moter hitting on only 6 cylinders, but when I drive about 5to10 miles it does not matter if it has been 90/40 degrees outside it starts to smooth out and run normal. Could I have pieces in my injectors that are causing this? Its not makeing sence to me. Any input would be greatly apperciated

Yes there is a fuel heating element inside the bowl, and gunk inside there is not a good thing, but your injectors are not plugged with this gunk. If they were, they would not clear up after it warms up.

How many miles are on the engine? Does it start and run better when cold if you plug it in for a few hours first? Perhaps you just have a few worn injectors (but cleaning out the fuel bowl would still be a good idea).

follow the write up from Guzzle. I recently had same issue and removed fuel bowl lid, and heating element and cleaned out bottom, after draining fuel drain lever. I used a small shop vac to get all the crud build-up. I installed a new fuel filter and primed it with some Power Service Diesel Kleen(grey bottle)
I haven't had any issues with crud build-up, just leaking O rings at fuel drain lever(cheap and easy fix)

Smile

This happened to me several months ago and I did clean it out. It doesnt seem to matter warmed up or not its done it even when I lived in Tucson,Az this last summer and it was 115 degrees. Id start the truck it'd run rough as hell, drive about 5miles and then it start runnin normal and smooth. Im in Walden Co and have been since the end of Oct,have plugged the truck in and it starts hard, (which is expected)and as normal run rough, drive 5miles again and smooths out and the tempeture is about 10 degrees. So my problem seems to be I have some bad injectors? Whats the best way to check them without going to spend money at a shop or is there? Have some mechanical knowledge but not a master mechanic Im the original owner. it's and 02 and about 180,000 miles most towing miles on it

Still have some questions. When I first start my truck it does not high idle like it used to. Is this do to the weak injectors as well??
