we tried to order an escape with manual and it was next to impossible. 3.0 was not available with manual. I looked at a couple online but closest one was 400 miles away. We test drove a compass too and the cab design made us feel sick.
We did get the 3.0 and managed to put almost 16k miles on it since July. Avg mpg is right at 25. My wife drives it easier than I do but I rarely drive it at all. I may have put 1000 miles on it in that time period.
We really like it though I do find the radio controls with the sync aggravating and i think the cruise buttons are on the wrong side of the steering wheel. Other than that, it has been a good vehicle.

Ditto, When we tried we were treated like nuts and pushed twords an auto. They grudgingly agreed to do a dealer transfer but would not do it without a purchase agreement and $2500 down.
I got mine during the cash for clunkers so they were even harder to find then. I looked for several months and no one within 250miles had one in stock, the local dealer tried to get one on dealer trade and no one would give them up. That's the only reason I started looking at the Jeeps. Finally I lucked out and found one on a dealers lot about 50 miles away. It was actually one that I'd looked at online at the dealer 250 miles away, they traded it to the dealer I bought it from for something else apparently as equally desirable. I just happened to see it the first day it was posted and I bought it the next. They had already had several calls on it.
Nobody around here stocked the manuals but they certainly didn't think I was crazy for wanting it. Just said there wasn't enough demand to order them that way for the lot. I imagine I might take a hit on trade in, but I also saved at the front end. Heck I may keep it forever though, I've had it almost 3yrs now and never a bit of trouble...knock on wood!
Oh and by the way, if anyone is curious the going exchange rate when i bought mine was 2 dodges (plus cash) for one Ford! Seemed about right. I can only speculate but I would guess it would have been 3 or more chevy's.
The lifters have quited down significantly. They were very noisy untill about 1500 mi and then have shushed up progresively. I changed the oil and replaced with motorcrafts 5W20 synthetic blend. I found the oil to be kinda dirty for 2200mi (EVEN FOR NEW). I will be going with mobil 1 synthetic starting at 5k and dropping it every 5k there after. As long as it dont get skunky on me.
Finaly got some -17 temps. Heater rocks! best four banger heater I ever have seen.
I live in GA and the closest one to me was in Ohio. There was a fusion manual here but it reminded me of riding in a go cart.
I love my 2010 Fusion SE 6spd MT, the car rips and turns in 35 mpg hwy!
These 4cyl Duratechs are great engines, our 2005 Escape XLS Duratech 2.3 4cyl has been a great engine, not a whimper in 110,000 miles.
