Lengthening E-Brake

Does anyone make longer E-Brake cables for rear drum brakes on my 1976 f150...I just started putting in my 6 inch lift and noticed that they were to short.

Your e-brake was disengaged while installing the lift, right?

Loosen the adjuster or add some length to the adjustment rod by using all-thread or similar.

Might find what you need here: 1973-79 Full Size Truck/bronco - Brake Parts F100, F150 - Parking Brake F150 No experience with your truck, but a six inch lift may require lengthening the driveshaft. Yes, I would remove it before working. Better than dropping it on your head if it slips out.

Lokar and Inline Tube both make custom cables but they are not cheap. I would pull the cables off and take it to your local auto parts store or wrecking yard and try and find some about 4" to 5" longer

I'm not 100% sure this will work, but I'll throw the idea out there and see what others think...

There's an outfit called Cablecraft that has dealers/distributors around the country. They can custom assemble all kinds of different cables from the components they have.

My suggestion is to have them use your outer parking brake cables "housings" (I don't know the correct term) but have the inner cores replaced with longer ones.

Just a thought...
