how do I stop this?

Ok, so I have installed those Ford mudflaps on my 96, but the right rear melted onto my tailpipe over the winter. I have a replacement that I am going to throw on when I put my new catback on in a few weeks. Question is, how do I stop this from happening to my new exhaust? Id hate to mess up my purty new stainless steel setup. I had planned on using those collapsible rings used in plumbing (the ones you take a flathead screwdriver to to tighten them...hope someone knows what Im talking about). Then, whenever the flap came backwards, it would hit that raised area with the screw assenmbly, and not my new tailpipe. Any ideas??

You could mod the tail pipe to exit diagonally at the corner under the rear bumper.
Good luck

you can do what the semi's a large trucks do to rectifiy that dilema. They have a heavy wire frame the wraps over the sides fo the flapsto hold them rigid. Shouldn't be difficult to fabricate something like this for yours.

No one else has this problem? Am I the only guy with mudflaps? Id figure this was a pretty common thing. I had thought of using the wire frame idea, but I didnt know if anyone had an easier way that I hadnt thought of. I run the flaps because the 31"s I have were leaving that nice sand/mud fantail of crap on my fenders and underbody. Oh well, Ill just grumble about it some more until I put the new one on then Ill probably figure something out.
