I was wondering if 31" tires will fit on a 1971 F-100 shortbed? I just got the truck and the tires are junk, but a buddy of mine has a terriffic deal on some 31's. E-Mail me if you can GLN305@satx.rr.com

 

If these are 31x10.5r15s, I'm pretty sure they would fit. If you've changed the wheels, and have an atypical backspacing, there could be problems.

I'm postive on the rears, you should just try one on the front and check for clearance, turning wheel from left to right with the weight on the tire.

 

The wheels are stock right now...I did a little measuring and I think they will fit. Thanks for the answer...it is much appreciated!!

 

the only other concern with stock wheels is width of the tire, 10.5" tires are pushing it, but should work. They may wear alittle in the center.

 

I've got 31 x 10.50s on my 71... no rubbing lock to lock. I also changed the wheels though...

I put 31x10.50x15 tires on 15x6 Ford rims for my 1971 F-100 4x4. There is some rubbing on full lock. They actually measure about 29.5 on the truck.

Under normal use it is okay. Just note that max. inflation pressure for the Ford rims is 41 pounds. I run mine around 31-40 on road. Off-road to get a flat footprint you need about 20 psi on the rear axle.
