3g alternator- question about ground

hello-

i'm working on retrofitting a 3g alt onto my FE. there is about 1/16" of clearance between the back of the alternator case, and the cylinder head.

it doesn't look like there will be room to bolt a ground wire into the normal location.

my question...can i just mount a ground anywhere on the case, or is there something special about that bolt hole?

thanks-

Normally you do not have to ground the alternator, it grounds through the mounting brackets. If you feel you need a ground, any bolt hole or bracket will do. I have run separate grounds to the alternator on occasion, but that was for vehicles used in the salt for plowing snow, and the mountings were so rusted, the normal ground was no good.
