Set up of W-D hitch with air bags ?
I recently installed a set of Firestone air bags on the rear axle of my 2000 F-250. This was done due to the rear of my truck squated when towing my 20 ft equipment trailer loaded with a tractor. With the bushog on the tractor the combination was so long I had to pull the tractor forward on the trailer, causing the rear of the truck to squat. Towing the tractor with no implements did not present a problem because I could position the tractor further back on the trailer. Now with the air bags installed the problem is solved. Now to my question, when I get ready to tow my 26 ft 6,000 to 7,000 pound SunnyBrook travel trailer how do I set up the W-D hitch and air bags ? The truck trailer combination has always handled really well with just the W-D hitch, so I don't want to mess that up. But, since I have the bags I should be able to gain somthing from them. Does anyone have experience with this ?
Thanks.....

Hey there GAV10, the real secret is to have the truck and trailer setting level. You can be real exact with a level on both or take a good eyeball on it. Thas why most people put the air bags on to start with. If the rig is setting level then you should not have any problems. Good luck and have fun. Where yo'all headed this time?

In order to make sure the trailer tows the way you're used to I would set the air bags so that when you first put the trailer on the truck there is some sag. Adjust the bars as you normally do until the truck and trailer sit level. If you put the trailer on the truck with the airbags fully inflated you are going to avoid shifting a lot of the weight off of the rear axle like you did in the past.
