I'm still working on the hood. I decided to go with the front tilt. I am just about ready for paint. I plan to go ahead and pick up insurance so I can put it on the street to drive. I felt like I would wait for paint before installing the bed wood. Hope I'm not boring you guys.

Well I started fitting my wood in the bed before I started staining and came across a problem. The rear shock setup which I am using at this time actually sets too high and cause's a obstruction for the wood. The shocks have a extended mount tower and upper stem ends. One other problem with the setup is that I had lower the rear another two inches which left me with less then two inches of travel before the shocks bottom out.
To correct this I spent a few days studying a Monroe shock length chart to find a set of shocks which would meet my application by way of full compressed and extended lengths. I finally did find a set which fully compressed or 11.87 inches and fully extended or 18.125 also these have loop ends instead of the stem on one end which will save some mounting space.
To make these fit with the shocks at rest at 15 inches which will gave me a little over three inches of travel each way I added a 2 inch extension on the lower mount and also changed the upper mount to accommodate a loop end shock and fit under the wood.
This first picture is the old shock with the stem end in relationship to the wood bed floor.

This picture is of the new shock with the loop end and how it will be just under the wood.

This shows the new shock with both the new mounting locations.

Perform two needed jobs saturday. One I replace the carburetor the second I replaced the valve covers. Replace carburetor due to two reasons the first being that I couldn't get the low idle set right and the second I want a auto choke rather then a manual choke. The reason for the valve covers the housings were cracking at the bolt mounts and two had started leaking oil pretty good.
