Excursion trans problem?

Excursion trans problem?
I have a 2002 PSD Excursion and wondered if anyone else has seen this problem that just started yesterday.
The truck starts and runs find but the check engine light is on. It backs out of the driveway fine but when you put it in drive, you can press the gas pedal and nothing happens. No forward motion, no increase in RPM... nothing.
As you're pressing the gas wonderingI can't speak civillyis wrong suddenly the thing will engage and take off.
I'll be calling the dealership about it but people here seem to know more about these things than they do!

I think I found the problem...
Today's mail contained a notication from Ford regarding problems with the adjustable pedal assembly. The problems described are nearly identical to what I'm experiencing.

There is a recall (Customer Satisfaction Program) on '02 and '03 X's with the 7.3 PSD and adjustable pedals. The notifications are just starting to be mailed out.
You don't need the notification. If you are having trouble, Ford will fix it right now.
