Just a thought as well - did you check if import duty etc was paid when the previous owner imported it? If it hasn't been/wasn't paid, you will have a bill coming your way when you try to register it.....
by the way,how can I check it?I know maybe it's a silly question,but I just don't know.Thank you very much,Tushy
hi,
sorry for disturb,
you wrote me a few times on my thread,I would have a question,if you could help me please.
I've tried to MOT my 56 f100 in the UK,but the guy said he needs the date of first registration of the car.it has a date on the title, but only a year, and he needs day and month too?he tried to put in some random date but the computer wont let it to do it.have you got any idea what can I do or has any different way?thank you.
Regards Tushi
Why on Earth would they want to know the "original registration date"?
The usual reason for anything a bureaucracy does is to allow them to collect more money...
It's on some titles here because "in service date" is the basis for the true age of a vehicle. A 2009 car might not actually be sold until 2010. A 2010 model year vehicle might be sold in 2009. Certain things like emissions testing and valuation for taxes are based on actual first registration. But that kind of information just isn't available for pre-computer age registrations.
How did you get on with registering your truck? I have a 1950 Ford F1 which I am planning to register very soon. I imported it into the UK myself so have the Florida title, VAT and Duty customs documents, only thing I'm missing is a dating letter. How did you resolve this in the end?
