I am more or less new to Ford vehicle ownership with the recent purchase of my new 2011 F-150 Ecoboost 4x4. Man I love this truck. Historically I have driven mostly Chrysler or GM products, always going for American made by an American Company.
After taking up scuba diving this year and soaking the interior or my Jeep Wrangler a few times, even with all sorts of cargo spill protection, I decided it was time to upgrade to a truck. Its been an interesting journey getting to where I am now, but I am very happy with my new Ecoboosted F-150. My only disappointment is that there is no manual transmission offered with a new F-150.
One of the things I didn't like about my Jeep was that it was a gutless wonder, my new F-150 nearly doubles the power output of the jeep, while getting the same or better mileage. Very happy overall.
Now all I need is to get the bed liner sprayed in and choose a hard locking bed cover that offers reasonable protection from the elements.
If I remember correctly they stopped the manual trans in the f150 around 2005. So you really are not missing out on anything. If they did have the manual in 2005 it would be a V6 4x2.
