1997 ranger electrical glitch
I have a 1997 ranger extra cab,auto,4.0l,4x4,
For some reason the 4x4 selector,wipers,interior light,auto window roll down function seam to be tided together.
If one works they all work or nothing?
Comes and go's but, lately doesn't work!

Welcome to FTE.
Acting out GEM module maybe. Its in cabin, on the firewall behind the radio, the search function is your friend for needed additional info, so try a search for it's location, what it looks like, what all it controls, how to remove it, ect & let us know how it goes. Ford uses these in many differently equipped vehicles, so a replacement needs to be for the same equipped vehicle.
The "Tech Info" thread atop this forum is also a good source for all sorts of repair info.
Salvage yards are a good source & many autoparts stores have reman ones that you can find discounted, or online promo codes on, if you come to find the GEM is faulty.
Sometimes they fail because of a water leak around the base of the windshield, so if things in the cabin have been getting damp in the center firewall area, you'll want to fix that before replacement. Or maybe some add on electrical device has been tapped into something the GEM controls & has/is sending out on line corrupting electronic hash thats confusing it. So, if this problem came about suddenly, after some event, be suspecious of the event.
Some thoughts for pondering, let us know how your trouble shoot goes.
