Engine lift - cherry picker

Ok guys know this is not specific to this years forum, but this is the year of the truck that I have. Anyways Now have 2 of them, the old one is heavier duty - no sticker that indicates weight rating but guessing it is maybe 3 ton and a newer collapsible leg model that is rated at 2 tons max. I like the idea of less room taken in the garage, BUT am I going to give up too much if I sell the heavier duty model ? Let me give details, the collapsible models legs do not extend, they are approx 48" from the ram to the wheels, where the heavier model is maybe 54" collapsed to the ram and can extend out another say 18". Also the ram is heavier at 3 by 4 square tubing and maybe .025 thicker steel in that boom. Also the boom extends maybe 18" out further - so it is probably better for a truck or a vehicle with the engine not so close to the front bumper. I also have used it for a mid size car whereby you lift the body of the car from the front subframe. Guess it may not be an issue for this last item, as the vehicle without the weight of the engine/trans not really significant.

Thoughts ??

If you have the room for one but not two, keep the bigger one and sell the small one.

Just one point, from the description you gave I would wonder if the small one would lift high enough to use it on a truck..

x2^^^, I'd keep the larger stronger one and sell of the little one. Always better have to much lift then not enough.

Ditto the above, I'd keep the heavier one.

Now if you only worked on 4-cylinder import cars, different story . . .
