Glow plug relay ???

I recently bought a 2000 f250 and it was hard to start in the morning if I didn't plug it in. Well I tested my GPR and it wasn't allowing voltage to pass to the glow plugs. Now I have a friend who says there is two GPR's on the 7.3. I replaced the smaller one closer to the turbo, and the other one he pointed out is right next to it near the compressor. Looks identical just taller. Now my question is what does the second one control? I have no clue on where to begin looking as I don't even know what its called or controls. I found a pic on a older GPR post but it doesnt label the one relay i'm talking about. Thanks for the input.

P.S. I tested the power lead coming into the relay with the key on and its 12.7 and it doesn't allow voltage to the other big terminal. Just like the GPR did before I replace it, So im pretty sure its bad. But again no clue what it controls

The relay in front of the GPR is the AIH (Air Intake Heater). It operates at lower temps then the GPR. The AIH element is in the cold side of the spider and heats the post IC intake air.

Quite a few of us have replaced the stock GPR with a Stancor relay. See this LINK.

Here's the way I did it. LINK

The Stancor will last longer and is cheaper then an OEM GPR.

Also, here's a pic by user Johnarahill of the AIH element in the Spider. Ignore the arrow. That's pointing out the tube that the MAP sensor hose goes to.

Thanks, looks like it would be a better option, but I already bought one yesterday from advance. yeah I even paid more then the $25 for the GPR-109 so live and learn I guess. But since my AIH relay is bad, I think for the time being ( more money comes in ) i am just gonna put the GPR-109 in the place of the AIH. Thanks again for the info

Now the other shoe drops. Quite a few have deleted the AIH (Not me though because the E99s didn't have an AIH). It has nothing to do with performance but was designed to help reduce smoke when engine is cold. It's a bit of an air flow restriction with no real need. With it deleted you can use the element port in the spider for a plug that will accept a boost gauge sensor.

Selection of AIH Delete Plugs at Riffraffdiesel.

Yeah, delete the AIH. It not part of the GP system for starting in cold weather.
