when i have her parked with nose facing the garage door. I mean, i drive all day, park in streets, out in the desert (yesterday), no matter where i'm at, she wont drip anything, nor will she, when i park her with her a$$ facing the driveway, BUT the second i face her forward, for the night, i just went out there and BAM, a few drips from under, and its drips from around the harmonic balancer, somewhat of a coolant/oil puddle. I can see the "splash" marks on the bottom rad hose.....think at best, after the holidays, i'm gonna install a new Melling pump and be done with it. Also, the W/P is 10k miles new.
Matt, you think the temps play a role in your situation? Mines been doin it ever since i replaced the W/P , and that was in Summer. If she doesnt want to see my ugly face in the morning, well then, i'll turn her around then. Not ask'n much, but to drive the sh&$ outta her...lol
edit:...Gotcha matt, with "access". Didnt hit me until now, that "it sux to work in the cold".

Reason: i'm a moron
Not sure 'bout the temp vs issues but I gota get in there and take a look. Not commin from the stat but from the plate just below it (i think). I dont know, saw it from underneath, wiped off the drip and went back inside!
It drips from the front of the engine, not the back?
front, from behind the pulley. Try'n to decide if its coolant or the seal at the LPOP. Eitherway, after the holidays, a Melling will go in, and if Trey dont need the W/P, gonna install another new one, and contact RockAuto about this one.
I may have the same problem. I noticed a small spot on the driveway and a little something on the lower radiator hose. I had my coolant pressurized the other day and its seems to hold pressure. Interesting
Yup, coolant level great, oil level perfect, (knock on wood), no coolant to oil / oil to coolant, kool-aid look in the degas, looks like great pressure under cap...etc. Beats the crap outta me, as to WHY. With rain here, i parked it with bed facing garage, and a cardboard under her, but i'll betta buck, it'll be dry by morning (cardboard with no spots).
-Guys, Hey, I had exactly the same problem with mine. There was a thread a couple of years ago about this.
-Those of you with newer pumps shouldn't be having a leak at the water pump seal just yet I wouldn't think.
Heres what happened with mine: I replaced my original pump @ 80k miles with a BRAND NEW AIRTEX pump-(Airtex is the original manufacturer to Ford for these pumps also) (I also installed the Dieselsite coolant filter kit) NO LEAKS.
-Then the weather got COLD here in Florida into the upper 20s to low 30s over night and around 50 during the day that winter.
Mine had started to leak at the seal between the pump and the attached lower hose PIPE-as many of you know there IS a rubber seal in there that (btw) IS different from the seal used in the TStat housing.
-This seal originally went in dry with absolutely NO silicone sealer of any type used.
-It was recommended in the old thread that a new seal be installed and lubed with a product found at NAPA stores called "SYL-GLIDE" it comes in a small tube, this allows the seal to kind of float and seek the very best "seal" that it can stopping the annoying leak. There was something else that can be used in place of SYL-GLIDE but I've forgotten what it is.
-As with all sealing surfaces the areas should be completely cleaned before attempting to put it back together.
-I did mine back then and not a drop since-mine DOES NOT leak one drop.

win a dollar from myself...dry as a bone You'd think, parking this way would make it leak from what i'd think would be pressure against the seal/s, not the other way.
yah, used that stuff on my 97 tahoe. Had a head gasket leak, and it fixed it. Put another 85k miles on it, that way. But unfortuntly, started a new thread, 2 to be exact, and think i got bigger issues.
