Is it just airbags, or is it new, taller springs, and air bags? If its just bags, I dont see a problem. It will just help even out the ride from the heavy plow bouncing. I cant say Ive seen the kit you describe, but I know the basics behind the airbag setup. If its springs and bags, you might need longer shocks too. Also, I do not know if it effects the alignment. I dont think it does if its stock springs. These bags fit into the springs, right??
The JC Whitney springs look good. They're $165 though. What kind of deals have you guys found? I'm also thinking about monroe shocks, I suppose I just order the standard Bronco ones, or do I need larger ones? (I'm relatively new to the truck world) How much does it cost to get an alignment with the bushings?
Your front coil springs are sagging because they are old. Replace them with new stock springs and you will get the inch of lift that you are looking for. If you go to any higher you won't balance out until the new springs get older. You can get new springs for about $100 bucks.
Actuallt they ride at a decent height, they are probably pretty old, but they look to ride at a good height compared to other broncos I see. Just found out skyjacker makes 2 in. springs, and I think shocks, that might be a good setup. So you're saying my caster\camber is probably off now, and will go the other way with the springs? Any good way to measure\test the springs without removing them?
You will need an alignment. Make sure that you get the proper type of camber adjusters also, without these your alignment will not go into proper specs. Shocks are a must you'll end up breaking them and/or the mounts that they sit on, I've seen it happen. Many companies make leveling coils; Pro Comp, Superlift, Skyjacker, and Trail Master. If I made my choice I would choose the Superlift or the Skyjacker. Their springs have a nice ride to them and WILL last the longest (height/ride).
I'm going with either:
A. The rough country kit, 1.5'' springs, and Heckthorn shocks
B. Skyjacker, 2'' springs, and hydros or nitros.
The shocks are about the same price. The 1.5'' springs are $130, the 2'' I don't have a price for.
So are the bushing are pretty much a necessity? And I can basically buy the bushings, and have a shop do the alignment (after the new setup is in)for $30?!? That almost sounds to goods to be true. I'm leaning toward rough country, but their shocks come in 0-1'' of lift and 1.5-2.5'' of lift, which is best? I appriciate the responses. So...Skyjacker or Rough County, that is the question.
In my not so humble opinion, Skyjacker makes a MUCH better product than Rough Country. Especially when it comes to shocks - we lifted a 92 with Rough Country and I tell ya what... they aren't kidding about ROUGH!! Also... yes, you really do need to do the bushings, it makes the alignment go much easier and you get much better results. Depending on the miles since the last suspension work, I highly recommend ball joints and radius arm bushings be done at the same time.
My 96 f-150 has 90,000 miles..Do you think I should replace the bushings" is it hard to do"?? It sounds like its tuff to get aligned right...Can I get rancho-procomp shocks that will work with the 1.5 in lift??? Any one have a pic of their truck with the leveling springs??
