I have an 85 Explorer. Can't remember the paint code but it's the kinda red/burgundy color. I got it repainted several years ago, original color, but the stripe was not redone. Is there any way to find out what the original color stripping was? Is there any place to get them still? Trying to get it back as close to original as possible.
Never mind. Did some searching and found out the 85 could have been "stripe delete". So maybe that's what mine was. Been 7 years sense I had it painted and my old foggy mind just can't remember.
My understanding of the replacement tape stripes is that they're all NFG by now... they've spent 30 years rolled up in boxes and they basically disintegrate as they're unrolled.
If you post a picture of the Certification Label on the driver's side door jamb, I can probably tell you some stuff about any original striping.
Old, foggy mind?
In another thread you said you've been rolling under trucks for 60 years?
Aren't you the guy who looks to be maybe mid-30s with a beer in his hand in the Mug Shots?
HAHAHA, Nope not me. Don't think I've posted a mug shot yet, hard to find a camera that can hold up to that kind of abuse. I'll be 60 the end of this month. I say been doing it for 60 years but 57-58 would probably be closer. My mom had a picture of me in diapers with one of those old screw type bottle jacks trying to jack up my dad's car in the early 50's. Been hooked on anything with wheels and a motor ever sense.
I'll try and get a clear picture of the label tomorrow, sure appreciate the help. This old thing has a lot of sentimental value. Got if off a very close friend back in 03 and I "think" he was the original owner, he's no longer with us.
BTW, still looking for one of those hats that says "I suffer from CRS, Can't remember S**t" cause it really fits.
