99 was the first year for this body style, there are some differences in early 99 and late 99. The late 99 after Feb 1999 has a larger turbo and seals in the engine.I have a 1999 F350 later model, it has been a really good truck with 180000 miles on it now. I beleive the 2002 has different connecting rods than the earlier 7.3's, Others will chime in and probably tell you a lot lot more.

What kind of Edge do you have?
I have a edge Evelution in my 02 and Im hoping I can put it in my 99.
Look at the build date- the e99 is from IIRC 1/98-4/99. there are several differences, but on a dually just about everything except the turbo isthe same. Brakes, turbo I know for sure are different. But don't let a e99 be a deal killer, I got one and in the never ending course of mods, I swapped the turbo for a late 99 van turbo. ANother plus is that you're guaranteed to get forged rods, which they stopped using in mid 01.
Sounds like a real good truck. Who has this, private party or dealer? If the mileage is right you made a score early or late 99 model.
Chet
Its from a dealer but its a small town ,I know of the ex owner.
He bought it new and is a older guy that used it to tow hes 5th wheel somewheres down south in the winter.
Its got lots of ad on already added.
A big checkerplate toolbox in the front of the box then a nice looking 5th wheel hitch , then a 5th wheel set of toolboxes across the back of the box and a 5th wheel tailgate.
The box is fully checkerplated.
Stainless running boards .
Pillar guages.
A built transmission.
Lots of mudflaps and lights , to many Im going to remove some of that stuff.
I wont bring up the bad until I own it ....................
Another thing its got is one of those high idle things.
Its a box with some guages mounted under the dash.
What the purpose of it is i dont know.
I could see a use for it with a PTO or something but I dont know what id use it for?
Tell me if you know?
Yeah it's a high idle box for running a PTO, but since for the most part our trannys never came with a PTO- other than heating the engine faster and keeping the A/C cold, there's no real need for it. If you ever get a DP tuner, Jody can st you up with a high idle tune, you can sell the Ford box on ebay for about $150
Not a bad looking truck my wife truly loves the paint, but hey that is not what makes it run Congrats on the new rig and I hope it runs out good for ya.
