Leaky power steering question
Leaky power steering question
about once a month, always on a twisty narrow dirt road at low speed a bleeder is opening up and let a bit of PSF out. I am going to buy a new steering gear box.as well as a new pressure line and return line. Are there any other connections/lines in the system that could be the issue? or should this pretty much do it

I'll have it up on my buddies lift next week for an install of: all the new PS system parts I mentioned, new front hangers for the leaf springs and a few hours of undercarriage cleaning followed by POR 15, I'll check for a PS cooler when its up. Thanks. We're also replacing the original 16 year old distributor cap with a new MSD & rotor as well as some mallory 300 ohm wires. And, of course, an oil change.
BTW If I do have a cooler where would it be? My leak is directly on top of the steering gear box, I originally thought it was the bleeder on top of the box but it might be the two fittings where lines attach, those are pretty saturated with PSF as swell.
Thanks again!

Sounds like I need to take a few measurements and verify shape before I purchase. Excellent piece of info. I just clicked on your heart Icon for cred.

And I hardly think either one is a "Tow Pkg" truck...lol
Return line "cooler" rusted through at one point three or four years ago, I cut off the bad section reconnecting rubber line to it.
Here this fall got it out making it ready to plow only to find the line up at the gear box rusted through a small pin hole, can't just cut it off be nothing left clamp hose to.
Bought a brass barbed hose fitting that screws directly into the GB, it is flared just like the line it replaced. It works perfect no leaks, just a 1.5" section of rubber line run from GB to pump return port.
No rubber doesn't provide much in the way of cooling but it doesn't rust either!

Not being a dick, but simply fixing it the right way, can cause a LOT less issues....
Not to mention, could keep you from hurting yourself/someone else....
