Thank you all for the kind words. Like I said earlier, I feel really lucky to own this piece of American history, and will do what I can to preserve its heritage. It’s funny you should mention the tires. They’re LT 75x15…?... (30” outside diameter). That is what started this whole thread of correspondence. I have the original wheels (with the tires that came on them when I bought the truck) and want to re-install them. I just don’t know what kind of covering, i.e: hubcaps or wheel covers (if any) the truck would have had when it was delivered. The wheels I have appear to be recently painted and are the same color as the truck. I don’t believe that’s the way they came from FoMoCo. I’m hopeful that when I remove the existing tires, there will be some evidence of the wheels original color. My intentions are to re-paint the wheels that color (if I can determine what color that is) put a set of reasonable sized tires on them (32x9.5x15?) and hang a set of hubcap/wheel covers to finish them off. I would like the final product to be as close to correct as possible, and that’s why all the help I’ve received from this forum has been invaluable. Once I get everything installed, I’ll post a few pictures for you guys to see how it turned out.
From what I've gathered, here are my three options:
1. Painted, no hubcaps or wheel covers
2. Painted, hubcaps on rear wheels only (likely poverty caps)
3. Painted, with wheel covers on all four.

After reading my long winded response, you'll know. And...I've typed this same jazz at least 20 times previously.
The wheels I have appear to be recently painted and are the same color as the truck. I don’t believe that’s the way they came from FoMoCo.
As original, wheels were either painted white or black. It was random...so, for example one white truck may have white wheels, another white truck may have black wheels.

1965/66 F100 as original: There were two types of 15" wheels available:
1) Innie = So called because the hubcap snaps onto tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.
2) Outie = So called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.
Custom Cabs came with stainless steel innie (9 1/2" diameter) or outie (10 1/4" diameter) hubcaps. The innies have been reproduced, the outies have not and are the same as 1964 Ford Custom/Galaxie.
Standard Cabs came with painted innie or outie hubcaps, none have been reproduced.
The innie painted cap is the same style as the stainless hubcap (called a 'bottlecap' because it has 12 of these \_/ around the edge). Could either be painted white or argent with the FORD block letters painted red.
The outie painted hubcaps were also the same style as the Custom Cab/Galaxie, were also painted white or argent. Have a raised slash in the center dividing two cresent shaped indents.
If the hubcap is white, the FORD block letters are white, the background (indent) is red. If the hubcap is argent, the FORD block letters are argent, the indent is red.
1966: Ford introduced optional wheel covers for F100 2WD's and 4WD's. These same covers were available thru 1977 and were standard equipment on 1967/77 Bronco's. Reproduced.
This cover has a raised stainless steel cone with a red plastic Ford crest in the center (2WD & rear of 4WD). 4WD front covers have a red plastic ring in lieu of the emblem, that allows the hub to poke thru.
"Squire" Don has the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog. These hubcaps/wheel covers are shown here: TEXT, Section 12, Page 1 = Types: 1 ~ 2 ~ 5
btw: When I bought my 1965 F100 2WD 8' Styleside Standard Cab new, it was painted Wimbledon White with white wheels and innie painted white hubcaps. Blah!
First things I did when I brought it home: Repainted the wheels black, tossed the innie hubcaps into the circular file, and installed 1952 Packard full wheel covers with red cloisonne center emblems.

Before my 66 became my daugthers truck and got chrome mod's I ran 33x9.50x15 mud terrains with steel wheels painted Whimbleton White with a set of stainless innie/dogdish/poverty hub caps. I took a hole saw to the two which were in the worst shape for the front hubs to stick thru and liked the "stock" look it provided. With the front 2 inch Rancho springs and tall skinny tires I was often asked what year my "F-250" was LOL. In one of my books there are a couple of pictures of 4x's that show either no hub caps or only on the rearand from what I could tell they were painted like Mr. Bill says.

Bill,
Wow, that is a lot of information. I'll bet your previous employer begged you to stay when you announced your retirement.
My truck is a Custom Cab, you gave me that information last week.
D81: D = Medium Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Cody Pattern Woven Plastic // 81 = 81B Custom Cab.
Is it safe to say it would have most likely came with stainless steel innies or outies vs. the optional wheel covers? I understand it's only a guess (at best) but I value your experience and guarentee your guess is more educated than mine. Would the correct outie be the same as currently listed on eBay item # 370568540059 ?

Wheel covers (if ordered), hubcaps, outside mirrors (if ordered) were placed inside the cab at final assembly. Were all dealer installed.
Parts counters usually had accessory displays, as did showrooms. Peeps would see all the goodies, some would waltz up to the parts counter and buy them or add them to their contracts.
Since FoMoCo threw the records away decades ago, there is no way to discover what options could have come with these trucks originally, and most everything...was an option.
Basic pickup: F100 2WD Standard Cab short bed Flareside 240 I-6 w/3 on the tree M/T, 6.70-15 4 ply bias ply black walls, L/H unpadded sunvisor.
El cheapo AM radio (no pushbuttons, no FM, no 8 track available), economy or deluxe heater, outside mirror(s), lap seat belts, R/H sunvisor, R/L armrests, 300 I-6, 352, O/D, A/T, 4WD, 7.10 x 15, 7.75 x 15 black walls, P/S (1966 2WD only), power drum brakes and etc were all optional.

R, see if you can get ahold of the prior owner...remember me mentioning pics of it back in the day they might have...OR someone might remember...I have some of the innie type caps which are identical to the F100s except mine are larger dia and tall overall ht...mine are for 3/4 ton...
As to the pics...they dont do the truck justice IMO...its that nice for an original rig...
Feel free to call anytime R :-)

If your good a welding small holes shouldnt be a big problem. I sure dont see alot of tweek as Don says. I guess pics can hide alot of stuff. If tweeks arent to bad a chain and come along and stout tree or utility pole with the bumper still bolted to the truck might be able to be straightned up a bit. Try it you might like it.
Now heres a tweek:
