01 PSD

My brother unbeknownst to me just purchased an 01 dually PSD. I thought I would ask you guys here before going to the 99 forum, it looks like this thing has 2 GPR's. I haven't had much time to go over it, but he's bringing it over this week for me to give it a once over. So are there 2 GPR's? He said it was hard to start this morning so I'm trying to diagnose the GP system. Thanks guys

One is for the GP's and the other is for the AIH Air intake heater

Ah I see. I just took a glance at it for a minute. He's not mechanical at all, so I have the task of making sure this thing is up to par. Runs like a champ though. Thanks mike

The AIH makes a great spare GPR that's always with you. If the GPR is bad, just swap the AIH relay in it's place. You don't need the AIH (or he doesn't)

Thanks Chris. I was hoping you would jump in on this. I'm sure I'll have more questions. This thing is much quicker than my truck, but that friggin engine bay is tiny! Do y'all know if the big Donaldson filter will fit on this?

Yes it will fit. You'll just have to do some trimming on the factory air box. The bottom half of the airbox extends up under, and is part of the battery tray, but a little snip snip and the filter fits in there.

best thing for that 01 7.3 is to chuck the stock pos air filter and put a 6637 in its place.

it has been a while, but if i remember correctly the front is the GPR, and the rear is the IAHR

Rear most relay is the GPR... The one in front is for the AIH.

Thanks for the input guys. He picked it up dirt cheap out of Florida and I was a bit buzzed when I took a look at last night. He is going to bring it over this week and its getting an oil change and fuel filter. Then I'm going to check the GPR,Gp's, test the coolant etc. He's not mechanical at all and didn't even notice it was missing the front driveshaft so we ordered one today off of car-part.com for $150...not too bad if you ask me, but I hope that is all that is wrong with it. I'll talk him into the 6637, but I'm sure he will have me get everything up to par before she gets any mods. He took me for a ride last night and it runs real strong and pulls harder than my OBS. I didn't tell him that of course

I hear you. As much as I love my OBS, the bottom line is that an 01 with almost 70k more miles and question maintenance history was much stronger than mine. Both trucks are darn near bone stock

I know a couple of guys who could sell you a chip to wake up your OBS and get it moving quicker than the 01

Yeah I know. Work is slow and so are the funds. Plus I do have a mod list, But I'd really like to have a built trans first and go from there...
