Repairing tailgate trim

HI,new member here. My money pit is a 1970 F100 Ranger XLT. I know from other posts on here that this might be beating a dead horse, but whatever help can be given is appreciated. The wood grain piece of trim on my tailgate is faded, but the major eyesore is the gash where the "O" in the FORD emblems has been dragged thru the trim metal. I know that this piece of trim isnt made anymore, but I was wondering if anybody had any ideas to fix the torn metal. Again thanks!

It is still made. Check MACs, Dennis Carpenter, LMC or National Parts Depot.

1970/72 Ranger XLT: The wood grained tailgate finish panel (D0TZ-99425A34-B) is not listed in Carpenters 1967/79 truck repro parts catalog (2011 paper version).

This finish panel has been obsolete since the late 1970's. No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

All that is listed in Carpenters catalog (page 88) is the one for 1968/69 Rangers (C8TZ-99425A34-A) and 1971/72 Sport Customs (D1TZ-99425A34-A). Neither is even close to the same.

1970/72 Ranger: The tailgate finish panel (D0TZ-99425A34-A) is similar to the XLT's, but does not have the wood grain, has a brushed aluminum finish instead. AFAIK, no one repops this one, either.

The wood grained decal is Di-Noc made by 3M and can still be bought (but Ford never sold it for this application or for the XLT's wood grained upper side mouldings).

Wood 'n Carr .. a woody resto shop located in Signal Hill CA has myriad types/grains of Di-Noc.

Thanks, Number Dummy. I was afraid of that. I had searched high and low trying to find one. Guess I'll just have to take that panel to a body shop and see if they can do anything for me. I appreciate the info, tho!
