Did you delete the factory tweeters? Or did you leave them hooked up? What brand of speakers did you get?

Speakers

I left the tweeters. Sounded ok to me. Used Infinity speakers recommended on this site.

That is the info I posted when I just finished installing the rears. I used the same speakers for front and rear, just make sure the + and - are connected correctly because it might be reversed from the front speakers. Also, on my truck the tweeters are now disconnected in the back since I did not care to re-wire to get the tweeters working when I replaced the rear speakers.

That single post thread above is from the main thread, Front door speakers, and there may be other useful information in it that would help.

The sound system in the F250 is okay but certainly not "premium". The premium sound system in my 2010 F150 was way better and had Sony speakers.

"Premium" simply means you pay more for it!

Well I installed the Infinity speakers yesterday. WOW! What a difference! It is amazing how cheap the stock speakers are, and the difference in sound quality is amazing.
On another note, it sure is nice to be home and driving the truck again!!!

on the premium system where does ford mount the front tweeters? When I look on their website I see the back door tweeters mounted in the door. Are the front tweeters on the speaker plate in the door? Has anybody experimented with different mounting places like the front pillars? Studying for putting together a system now. I think I want components in the front and full size for the rear. I know with this set up it won't provide the bass I want since compenents are ususally just mid's and highs. What are most of you doing for a bass module. I love the jl audio setup for under the rear seat but wanted to see what other options there are. I listen to just about everything from classical to some top 40...and a little bit of old school rap. I like to not only hear my bass but feel it also! But I still like it clean and tight and not boomy???

The tweeters are in the door right below the window for the rear. They are on the door pillar in the front. I used component speakers since I think the tweeters were a major part of the problem with the stock "premium" system. I'm not sure where the cross-over is placed in these trucks, but keep that in mind if you only decide to replace the top or bottom speakers. A friend of mine setup my system and used Pioneer equipment for speakers, sub and two amps. Sounds much, much better than stock now. He replaced the stock sub/amp combo.

The crossover for the factory tweeters is just a simple diode soldered to the back of the door mid range speaker.

I installed Polk audio component speakers front and back with true crossovers. Then I took out the factory sub, built my own enclosures to fit two Kicker comp 10's behind the rear seats. My sound system is truly fantastic, acoustic jazz, classical, and any r&b hip hop you desire all is a true pleasure to hear. Factory head unit actually does a great job feeding quality speakers. My only complaint is the narrow frequency range of the satellite radio. Lacks clarity as compared to FM, iPod, or CD audio.

Shouldn't it be a capacitor? A diode sounds to me like it would rectify half the waveform.

Ya, one of those things. I get them mixed up.

Panel for rears?

Guys,

Appreciate info for fronts! However need some advice on rears. How do you remove the panel to access the rears?

Thanks!

Best thing to do is to remove the upper seat belt bracket, then pop out the step on the floor, then start working the side panel that covers the speaker away. It pops out pulling straight toward the center of the cab. Slowly pry the edge away, find the snap prongs, and work them out watching that you don't stress the plastic too much.

If you don't have the right tool for the seat belt thing then you will just have to work in a very tight space. When I did it I had the rear seats removed so it was very easy for me. If you are placing a sub behind the seat, go ahead and take them out and your life will be easier.

I used JL Audio C3 component speakers front and rear,,the rear needs a mounting bracket from what I was told,, had a shop do it,,,also used a 400w 4 channel amp by Fosgate, did not change the head unit or sub,,,however, probably will change the sub/amp with JL Audio setup,, initially I tried to save a couple hundred $$ by using coaxials in the rear,,,very poor choice, immediately took them out and used the same as in the front, sound is crisp, all in all money well spent, totally changed the listening experience,,,factory speakers are poor at best
