needing advice on a trade

I currently have a 95 f150 4.9 with a 5 speed tranny. Its coming up on 200,000 miles, and has a little engine noise. Interior is perfect except for a tear in the seat. But the body has chipping clear coat and unfinished body work. I may have the opportunity to trade this for a 84 f250 4.9 with a 4 speed manual And the engine was freshly rebuilt. And i was wondering which of the two is going to get better MPG given the carb, and vaccum lines on the 84 model are in good order. I was just wanting to know what sort of gas mileage you guys with f250 I6's are getting, and if you think I ought to do the trade. Thanks

i wouldnt trade. that f2 is a gas hog considering it lacks OD and has heavier axles. if you can get the motor out of the truck yourself, which would allow you to also tear it down, it wouldnt cost that much to have a machine shop freshen up the bottom end if you didnt feal comfortable/have the tools to re-assemble yourself. while youre in there, you can do some mods to help you with mileage so its win-win in the sense that you get a fresh motor and you will see better mpg than youve ever seen with the truck before.
