Treasures in Idaho

Traveling on motorcycles from SW Washington State. Near the Idaho / Montana border on highway 200, on gravel / stone perched in a quarry cut into a mountain we saw lot and lots of old vehicles.

Wow! At first I thought you were showing us old beat up well used quarry trucks. But there are cars and even a VW pickup. Are these for sale?

Not positive but I think that “Nash” could be a Metropolitan. Late 50’s - my folks had one, a great little car. Believe it had an Austin 4 cylinder engine that was pretty bullet proof.

I live about 20 miles from that stash of "old steel". What I've been told is that the guy just likes to collect them.....he just keeps adding to them!

Well, they are lined up to show off, aren't they!

I just hope no kids go up there and shoot holes in them.

One thing bugs me though.... the 53, 54, and 55 are not in chronological order.

I'm curious about the big COE in the first pic, third from right. Looks like a pretty rare Reo.

Don’t know a thing about them, Abe. A buddy from college days (47 years ago) shipped his MC from Indy to my home in Morton, WA. We are riding to and through the Canadian Rockies and on the way through Idaho we saw these. Another response posted after your response was from a man who lives nearby and I think he indicated that they are not for sale. You might check his post and reply to him about the collection.

I cannot remember how the ‘53, ‘54, & ‘55 grills differ. From left to right, what order are they in?

The photos I posted and those that I took show only part of what is there. I saw the tail end of a Fairlane or a Galaxy from about 1960 - 61. It was the car with sweeping horizontal fins.

We have now traveled on to Lethbridge and Calgary in Alberta by way of Glacier National Park and Watertown Park on the Canada side. It seems like old cars and trucks are everywhere. Must be something about the climate here that enables the old cars and trucks to survive. - I do come from the “rust belt” (Indiana) and unless garaged and well cared for, few survived.

Haha, that is a neat collection but no, sorry its not my secret stash. However id have no problem claiming it if it were abandoned.

Actually Ross I was thinking about going to that auction your having next month. I had no idea you had such an addiction to old trucks, what made you decide to Sell?

Or maybe a Hudson . . . regardless it looks like it has been stripped of its expensive parts.

I hadn't seen that auction thread, I am about 4 miles from Joiner's museum. Some very nice stuff there.

Those trucks are not too far from where I live. None are for sale from what I've heard. I do not know the owner though....
