I can get a free 4" lift kit not sure of the brand but i was wondering what input you guys had on jacking up the ex 4". I'm going to be running 285/75/16 tires so about 33" tall will that look too small? How much is the gas mileage drop on a 7.3?
Is it an Excursion 4" or a F250 ? If F250 it will lift the Ex 6". 305's (33) will look ok if it is a 4" Ex lift.....otherwise I'd use a 315 (35).......
I actually gained on highway mileage on my 7.3......here's why.......before the 315's I was turning like 2200 rpm at 70 mph......now I can set the cruise at 72mph and turn 1850 rpm......right in the 7.3 sweet spot.......I haven't noticed any real difference on my diesel to speak of......although I would assume it has to be less in town.....but I still fill at the same intervals as before.

Wow thats awesome i guess the mpg drop will be minimul to none. that was main concern that mpg was go in the ****ter.
no not yet haha. i need to fix my u joint issue first. the guy wants to swap me his kit for my stock setup. soooo stoked!!
Since it is still installed on his Ex, I would ask to see how it rides. I have ridden in several spring lifted vehicles that ride terrible. Often times the springs are way to stiff. If it rides good, go for it. When I did a 6" lift with 35's I lost around 2mpg but it was with the 6.0l and not the 7.3.
My lift, which is a 4" F250 lift, so about 6 inches, combined with the 35s, killed my mileage. I lost 3-6mpg easily.
Wow....I regularly (once a month) travel loaded with kids and gear to visit my Dad....it's a 4hr 225 mile trip and I don't use any noticeable amount more fuel than before with 285's.......certainly not 3 to 6 mpg......maybe I'm nuts ??
I am at 6" and 35X13.50-20s for tires. Not only did I stick it up in the air but I put much bigger (and heavier) wheels and tires on. Your results may vary.
