Rough idle/repeat problem with relay
- I'm tired of making truck payments monthly then every two months spending another $500-600 because a disfunctioning relay somewhere causes my check engine light to start flickering and the truck starts running rough.I found that, with a little negative terminal removal, repetitive ignition switch futzing and persistence, I can occasionally get the truck to run normal again (which even gets the light to go out) but it is not a permanent fix.
I have been to three dealers in six months now and am wondering if anyone knows how I can remedy this problem. Other than this, the truck is nice...
I never had this problem... or any problem with my '86 Ford F250 Centurian Diesel but this 4.6L F150 is driving me to the poor house.

Sorry I can't help ya with your rough idle/repeat problem.....but I was wondering about your '86 Centurian.....we are interested in purchasing a used '96 F150 Centurian for sale by owner for $16,000. It has low miles, 4 wheeldrive, 4 doors, very well maintaned....the only problem is we cannot find any info on this model....How would one find out what it is worth?

hey im with you Mr Fink. ive about had it with Fords (well maybe not) i just rebuilt my engine and the damn radiator goes out (of all things!) and my idle is still loping.
ive got an old camaro that id like to work on but every time i get a chance to something happens with my Ford (piece of crap) truck that takes me away from it. so i can relate.
id suggest take it back to where you had it serviced and tell them that it is doing the same thing you brought it in for before and maybe they will be leanient on ya.
