Weekend progress
Well....with a bunch of help from my sons and my brother-in-law over the long weekend we made some progress:
First...I set up the brake pedal linkage and master cylinder:
I spent several hours making a bracket to tie the pedal back to the dash so that pedal forces don't flex the firewall...and mounted the whole thing:
When all of my help arrived, we:
1. mounted the radiator
2. found good part numbers for molded radiator hoses & attached those
3. plumbed transmission cooling lines
4. hooked up temporary oil pressure and temp gauges
5. added gas and pumped a couple of gallons through the filter & flushed out the new fuel lines
6. added oil and primed the oil pump with a drill
7. attached the speedometer cable to the C6 trans
8. installed a solenoid and wired up some battery cables
9. statically set the timing and attached spark plug wires
10. fired that bad boy up and did the camshaft break-in!!!
video to follow...my son caught a short video and walked around to the back to catch the sound of those glass packs!!
Now it's time to clean up all of the wiring....my next task will be to figure out a battery mount location. We were all looking at possible locations & I'm kind of thinking of mounting a box in the bed and routing cables under the cab and up to the firewall.

No problem....I kept the part tags from the hoses (and everything else too). They're Carquest part numbers, but any of the parts stores should be able to cross reference for you. The top one is from a 66 Mustang...the bottom one is a simple 90 degree hose...I had to cut both down a little for a good fit. Our local Carquest guy is good with the paper version picture book of parts!
For the serpentine belt, I stumbled onto a March Performance part number at Summit racing. It shows up as an Air Conditioning Eliminator bracket. The data sheet from March has a couple of belt routing options, but basically, the bracket mounts to the head & I bolted the stock F150 belt tensioner to the bracket. For some reason, I found this part number once, and it never showed up again on a part search at Summit unless I entered the complete part number (which I think is 30080....I'll check tonight when I get home). Here's a link to the March pdf for the belt routing: http://www.marchperf.com/instruction...structions.pdf
It seems to work....I did energize the alternator when I was doing the first cam break-in run....I did have to do a little shimming to make the belt run in the center of the pulleys.
