lock in hubs clunking question.

Have a 2004 F250. Automatic with lock in hubs. No auto lock. This summer I did the ball joints and hub assembly with the help of this site. Everything went fine. This weekend used four wheel drive for the first time and there is a clunking coming from the front end. This is only when hubs are locked in. Seems like there not fully engaged. What could I have put together wrong? Any suggestions to try to fix?

was this the 1st time you went into 4x4 ever or just now used the 4x4 since you have replaced the parts? while in 4x4 were you making a slow but sharp turn?

First time since replacing ball joints. No it's not the universal joints. It clunks when going straight.
