New Tires?

Sure you guys see this question a lot but I couldn't find any consistant answers using the search. I need to put new tires on my 2000 4x4 crew cab. Will be going with a 265/75 16 as this will come the closest to the original tire diameter without being to skinny. Don't need a real aggressive off roader, just a good tire in a "E" load range.

Question is what brand are you running, are you having good wear results and are you having any balance problems.

Thanks,

I put a set of General Grabber AT2s on my 02 SC 4x4 - LT 265 75 R 16 E load range - so far, so good. One of my friends run BF Goodrich ATs with excellent results and mileage - like 80K plus...the General's had a similar tread pattern, good reviews and cost less - we'll see.

You can't go wrong with Michelin LTX M/S. I am currently running BFG AT in a 285/75/16 and love them. They are my favorite tire for looks and I do have a little bit of off-pavement use. You may need to be a little more specific than "Don't need a real aggressive off roader." Real aggressive to me would be a mud-terrain tire, but I know that some would consider mine aggressive.

Another vote for Firestones, but I use their LT265/75-R16E Transforce HT's.

Here in SoCal, I don't have to hardly-ever contend with snow, so this is what I found to be the best mix of price, performance, and wear characteristics.

If snow were a factor, I would use the Transforce AT's instead.

My tire shop sent me out-the-door last year for $155 each., but they may have gone up. Shop around. Independent tire guys have a lot of price flexibility.

Hankook dynapro ATM good all around tire, and when I purchased them a year ago the price was reasonable. All the reviews I read in them were good, and now I'm adding to the positive reviews

I do hunt but use a 4 wheeler most of the time. I would say 97% highway and 3% off road. I have had the BFG AT's on my F150 with good results but was unsure how they were doing for folks on the heavier vehicles.

Have read a lot of good things on the net about the Michelin LTX M/S and not any negative. Wondering if their A/T is as good.

If you liked the BFG's on your F150, I think you will like the Load Rated E version on your F250. Good mileage, not loud, pretty good off-highway and snow. They even do well towing heavy.

I'm happy with these so far too, very good traction, didn't even have to use 4 wheel drive in the snowstorm...

I went with the Hankook Dynapro ATM as well. Had them a few months now and so far I'm happy with them. Lots of great reviews on them and the price is good too.

Well at least now the choice is clear as mud Michelin's are failsafe, Grabbers have happy owners, Hankooks and Firestones get lots of votes, and I've had good luck with BFG's which should do well in an "e" range. Wohoo

All kidding aside I do appreciate the feedback. When I got the truck it had 18" wheels from a later model on it (long story) that were causing the tires to rub the leaf springs and reducing turning radius to almost zero. I found a set of earlier model 16" wheels that had a set of Nittos on them. The Nittos still have a little life left so I have a little more time to contemplate.
Thanks,

P.S. Set of 18" wheels for sale cheap, Atlanta area

def bump up to a 285 a little more tire, but well worth it
I went up to a 305 right after my 265 Firestone's wore out- Nitto terra Grapplers they were great.
I now have BFG AT KO's in a 315/70R17 they are OK, but I am just looking at their competition!

I have a cc lb dually 4x4 and go hunting all the time. I vote Michelin for me. I couldn't keep tires on this truck till I went Michelin. I got 70K out of a set of 6 before changing. My tires are 235 75 16 I believe there stock size. My second set aren't as good but my front end needed work so the front ones went bad and had to rotate. I got them at costco because they rotate dually for free.
