hey guys so im driving down the road today and hit a small hole and my front end shook like crazy felt like my front end was gunna snap off and my wheels were gunna cave in, it was hard to break and slow down but when i got down to 5mph it stopped.
has anyone had this happen to them? what could have caused this?
check your track bar bushings, tie rod ends for worn out joints, gear box tight, loose pitman arm, ball joints, wheel bearings, and have your tires checked to make sure they are balanced usally not the case if it happened once but worth a shot if they are swab or discount tires they should check them for free i think
yes its a 4x4, the track bar is the small bar the runs from the passenger side wheel to the crossmember behind the axle right? just trying to refresh my mind
Tire balance to I once had a jeep that I bought to fix and sell and it had death wobble all balljoints tie rods steering stabilizer was good the problem end up being out of balance tires
dont have a steering stabilizer? and tires look ok there is some play if i grab the bar in the back side of the axle on passenger side that connects to the cross member, also the steering is pretty sloppy from on cab driving i think thats from the steering box? the tie rod ends are fairly new but the bar that runs from the steering box to the tie rod has alot of play at both end joints? is that normal? the joints look new but i can twist the bar a bit.
How many miles on truck ?You might want to take it to a shop that will give you a est on wat it needs then you can get the parts and do it yourself .you will still have to get a wheel alinement done after you make any changes to the front end
My 1993 250 use to do this, ford dropped it off the rack brand new and didn't replace a frame bolt, so I had to tighten the others down because they always loosened then welded them. Never had that problem since. So possibly just check all your bolts?
150k, i was thinking about doing that cause its been making some weird grinding sounds if i turn my wheel and go in reverse also when i turn my wheel and drive over a bump it comes from the left axle or left wheel cant seem to dignose it
