6.9 flywheel on a 7.3

ok. so ive found information saying a 6.9 smf will destroy a 7.3idi. can anyone dispell this rumor or tell me its true?

that is true, you cant use a 6.9 flywheel....

Its been done a lot with no issues. It is the factory turbo engines that dont like the non FW

It shore is taking a long time to destroy mine. lol Like I said before FORD recommends using both the flywheel and harmonic balancer, I changed just the flywheel on one of mine several yearsbefore I knew that with no problems.

hard to believe the balancing could get any worse. This is how much the machine shop had to pull out of my crank when they balanced it:





as far as interchanging though, the only difference is N/A and turbo when purchasing new.

well i still need to c if my flywheels are any good...and ive seen a couple trucks this way. are uns familiar with (i believe this is a part number) 1803217C1B cast on the engine side of the fly wheel? mayb just go luk all the way.lol. still lovin it.

well im gonna invest in the luk. part numbers are the same from 6.9 to 7.3 so they cant b that far off. im gonna stop at the ford garage tomarrow and hash it out with them c wat might arise and maybe get a couple laughs.
