All too true gentlemen but isn't it a fine testament to the make and the model that those of us who truly appreciate them can rescue them from their abusive situations and they will become the most reliable vehicles most of us have ever known.
I always tell people I have 220k on mine, but I just actually rolled to 220k the other day, felt nice. Now at 220,350 or so.. I want this to be a 500k motor, at the rate it's going now, I think I might make it! I hate that it's a 90 though, rolls at 99,999.
Sure, spent an arm and a leg to make it reliable, but now that I did I would trust it in a cross country trip.. well, short of 2 or 3 items that need fixed first.
It never works 100%, ever, always a clunk or sound or some sloppy running hardware, but is never broken down enough I can't get somewhere in it. That's the one thing I love most about my Bronco.

That is exactly what I said to my buddy when he laughed because I'm always working on my truck. Yet he has to trade his import in every couple years because repairs start to kill him.
Yep, I'd much rather spend a few dollars/hours (which could amount to a few hundred every few months) keeping an older truck on the road than spend hundreds in a heavily interest-laden payment EVERY month. Besides, to work on anything newer gets exceedingly more complicated.
Nice to read such positive comments on our soon to be collectable Bronco's. Although I recently passed emissions, I have found I have blow by. The #6 cylinder is dead so I disconnected the fuel injector to it temporarily to save gas and emissions, but have lost power. I'm debating a valve job and new rings since I already have valve cover leaks and a leak in the front dampner. Gasket set is cheap so it's labor intensive. I would rather keep my windsor than consider a crate motor. Unfortunately, at this time it's my daily driver. I wish I could park it and work on it. The body is straight and clean and paint is almost perfect. Your thoughts? Thanks!
