Test Drove a 1995 F 150 today 302 fuel injected when truck was cold water level was down in radiator a couple inches no water in over flow bottle. Drove it about 5 miles no overheating or water leaks got back took cap of a few minutes after shutting of motor and it blew water out about a foot high and took around 2 gallons to refill .What are we thinking radiator cap or head gasket or something else
That would be a normal reaction to removing the raditor cap after motor had achieved normal running temp, no doubt might need a new cap but would have pressure after had been run yea.
Any water/coolant in the oil? any oil in the coolant? notice steam from the tail pipe? If don't see any of those it probably doesn't have a blown head gasket however hard to say for sure responding to few brief questions asked on an online forum such as this.
You might better have it tested if you're unsure what you might be getting into, pay few bucks have a local mechanic with necessary equipment test cooling system look it over good before buying it.
Of course that'd depend on over its all condition and asking price too!
