I have a 2011 f150 4x4 sc 5.0 engine.Sometimes while driving at parking lot speed it seems the engine rpm stays up around 1000 while slowing to a stop and this causes a surge when you take back off.Anyone else noticed this?

My 2011 FX4 5.0L does the same thing...I don't think anything is wrong with the truck. To my understanding that's pretty much just how these new 6-speed transmissions operate.
As long as its not clunking really hard into to gear, or grinding any, I wouldn't worry about it.
No noise or hard shifting. When you are trying to just idle around to find a parking spot sometimes the engine rpm stay up a little to much.Maybe it is normal I don't know. Thanks for the reply.

At low speeds the trans can go to first gear if the speeds are low enough, thus causing higher rpm's and surging and rapid slowing down when letting off the gas. My 2010 does the same thing. First gear is so short (4.17:1), this would cause this if it doesn't shift to second gear at low speeds.
