I just had a 8 foot Boss plow installed on my 09 F250. It has a 5.4 with a 6 speed transmission. All I can say is that it is outstanding!!! I have a 140 foot driveway with parking for about 10 cars at the top. I used to plow it with my quad and it took a long time. We just had almost a foot of snow this past Thursday and I got to try it out. It made short work of my driveway and I made $600 as well on other driveways. It has surpassed all my expectations. In your opinion, what do you guys think is the best plow out there??
All of the commercial duty plows work fine. The best plow is one that you can get support and parts for locally. It also helps if the plow is easy to attach and detach.
I looked a the Boss brand and ended up with an equivalent Fisher. Both are popular around here and both are rock solid units.
I think Fisher makes a great plow, I've never had problems with the ones I've owned.
I will say the plow that's got my interest now is the Sno-Way with down pressure....alot can be said for having down pressure when it comes to scraping down snow.

That Sno-Way is one hell of a plow. I know a guy that just got one. Down pressure is a great thing to have, and the hydraulic wings are a nice touch too. It can supposedly push about twice as much snow as a V Plow. It even has a wireless control with preset postions. Just push the button and the plow automatically goes to the preset position. The build looks to be very solid too.

I completely agree its usually not the brand but the dealer support that is important
Don't have a plow currently but if I was to buy one I would get an Arctic they make galvanized plows and our landscape equipment dealer sells them
i like my dad's Boss V-plow. I use to have a 7' 6" older western and it worked great. both are well built. if i bought a new plow tomorrow it would probably be a western because i know the local dealer well
I'm a big Western fan. Seemingly bulletproof after 20+ years. The Pro-plow is very heavily built.
I'm sure Fisher makes a decent plow, but the ones I see have a pretty short moldboard (it's not very tall) and look lightly built (as far as frame structure behind the blade). Unless you run into many objects, I suspect most plows are plenty durable for a sensible operator.
I push a 9' Fisher MM,,purchased it in 99',,,still going strong,,had to do the filter this year,,,looked like alge/snot hanging from it,,and thats with changing the fluid often too,,,Another thing too,,also has to do with the truck mount,,Fisher is like the Best setup,,simple, and easy to put on and take off,,,I have seen guys with other models struggle to install there plow,,,Plus the Fisher Dealer is about a mile away from where we do the majority of our plowing !

When I plowed, I had a Western mainly because it came with the truck. It was a Pro Plow, but it was the old style where only the blade came off the truck and the lift and lights stayed on the truck. I had very good luck with it. However, my stepdad and the other 2 guys we plowed with all ran Fishers. I can say without a doubt that the Fishers were built far stronger than my Western was. The steel on the Fisher was thicker than the Western, and everything was just beefier on it. Another big difference on the Fisher is that the bottom of the plow trips when you hit something, rather than the blade flopping over.
Ya I had a blade trip plow What a POS...Never again..One time I was doing a drive and it tripped and sent me off into the woods like I was on rails...LOL
Westerns and Fishers bar none!!! Ive had westerns my whole life from the old style to the unimount. Unimounts are great and parts are everywhere. Alot of Western and Fisher parts are interchangable. My Western plow that was on my old F-250 had a Fisher joystick. Now....I have a Boss plow on my Superduty. The ONLY reason I bought a Boss was because my truck already had a Boss mount and wiring. Everyone I know that has a Boss has had nothing but problems with them. The joystick is big and bulky so I bought the handheld one and I still dont like it. The Boss standard blades arent very tall. My Standard Western Unimount was 6 inches taller than the boss. The Boss blade I bought came with that stupid snowflap that flips up and blocks airflow when Im driving down the road. No other brand plow comes with it but Boss seems to think they need it. But it pushes snow so I can live with it. But If I was to buy new, Boss would be pretty far down on my list.
