Some diesel owners have been running Two Stroke oil in their diesels for years and swear by it. I know in the 6.4L, unless you've deleted the DPF, it's not such a great idea. I was looking the other day and found some Marine Two Stroke that has a rust inhibitor and a water dispersement in it along with some other agents that sound like they would help. Curious to see everyones thoughts since the HPFP/ System seems to be an issue and there are a few people on here that have had warranty issues due to "water in their fuel system" as claimed by ford.
1. Do you recommend Two Stoke in the diesel?
2. Do you think the marine grade would benefit or hurt anything?
I've been using ashless 2 stroke oil in my 6.0 for years with no ill effects, does it help I can't prove it. I would never take the chance with my 6.4 a quality known brand of fuel additives such as Motorcraft lubricity and cetane boost would be more safe to use.
Marine 2-stroke oil is designed for a completely different application. I know that marine gear lube has emulsifiers to prevent water from pooling and rusting components. This stuff would permit water to go through your fuel filters and possibly destroy your HPFP and fuel system. I don't know if marine 2-stroke oil has this or not, but I would never chance it.
Use a quality additive. Everything that can be done to keep things in running order is done with a good quality additive.
If your just looking for lubrication properties I would just run some Bio....dont let people scare you about it, I run B-5 year round. I buy my Bio from a commercial pump from a very reputable company as B-100 (100% Bio) and mix accordingly when I get fuel. I have not seen any negative effects. Some on here claim to stay away from it ...I ran it in my 6.0 for years with no ill effects, my oil never grew and the truck ran great! I just sent a sample to blackstone so we will see if the 6.4 is any different.
