i just recycled my last LMC magazine so i cant look at it and i hate looking online. they were always in the shiney pages of the book from what i remember unless i jstu "thought" they had clear ones.
Just checked and LMC does not sell the side clearance lights in clear.
This wouldn't surprise me as I doubt they'd be street-legal...
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) requires the colored side markers/reflectors be visible from certain distances (50'?) and I don't imagine there'd be much of a market in the US for clear ones.
Just because they're available doesn't mean they're street legal, and this is the kind of thing that is VERY noticeable to cops looking for an excuse to pull somebody over and issue a ticket....
His question is where to get them, not if they are legal or not.
Yeah, I understand that.
But, you see, I feel a certain responsibility to let others know that these can't be used on the street despite their being available.
Sure, I could not say anything and just let things fall where they may. and just shrug my shoulders as it really doesn't affect me.
But, IMHO, one of the largest assets of FTE is the knowledge contained here and willingly shared with others, and I don't want to hinder that.
Besides,, these discussions are archived for eternity and it's entirely possible somebody may happen upon this forum via a google search or sumthin'....
Sounds like a disclaimer statement, its all good. I never heard of someone getting away with suing if they get bad info off a public intranet information system.
But there was that lady that got Mc D's with the hot coffee bit......amazing.
Like the time I talked a guy thru a D60 rear brake drum removal and brake rebuild, alot of views, but NO help.
Someone wise cracked about being sued......I continued to help.
Weird world we have to live in, and BTW thanks for the legal update links.
All you gotta do is Get red bulbs for the rear and amber for the fronts and wire that socket to a 12v powered when the ignition is on. so they will always be on and you can see the red and amber whenever your driving.

Heh....
I'm not worried about being sued (and neither should you be), IB (Internet Brands, the current owner of this site) has got enough legalese in their Terms of Use (and lawyers) to squash any such attempts.
Just trying to offer information & help without sounding like an old grandfather.

No, that's not ALL that's required, you also have to pay attention to the colored reflective requirement; all the legal details are laid out in agonizing detail in that first link I provided above. Number required, size, location, luminosity, etc. etc. etc.
