Sitting in my Bronco today on my break at work, pushing my non-working buttons for cruise control, I wondered what it would be like to have it. So I'm curious, how exactly do I get it working? It just doesn't work, hasn't since I bought it.
There are several other things you have to look for. I only really know 2.
1) The sensor on the brake goes out. Might have to replace. Mine isn't sensitive enough so I may do that.
2) My problem..... the spring rod on the turn signal switch in the steering column that connects the cruise to the metal on the steering wheel(allowing you to turn the wheel and not mess up wires) was broken off of mine. This means that the controls on the steering wheel wasn't getting any power or able to send signals.
The spring rod for the horn was also breaking at the time... honking when i turned.. not when I pressed the horn pad. That's how I found my problem. Had to replace the turn signal switch and the horn and cruise works now. $60 part. Or maybe the wire is just broken not connected to the spring rod in the steering column. Mine was broken and the wire wasn't connected.
