My IPR blew again!!!!Update from trucks new owner

Well, this is the 3rd time my IPR blew.

I was going down a hill towing a large dual axle trailer, in my "tow haul" mode and coming to the light it just stalled out.

No CEL nothing, I unplugged my ICP still no start.

Did no more, called a friend he came and got the trailer, tow truck got it home, pulled my turbo and the IPR which had a huge hole in the screen.

Does anyone know why this keeps happening?

I just recently changed my oil and used a fram filter.

Thanks.

Theres got to be some kinda junk in the system cloging the IPR screen causing it to build incredible pressure and forcing it threw

Have you ever changed the HPO reservoir screen the one under the oil cooler

Dam Tyler you just don't have any luck with that truck. Did you replace the screen under the oil cooler.

I'd be curious too to know what could be moving around in the oil system to 3 times make it to the IPR.

Either it's dirt (maybe some old gunk in the oil pan that's getting picked up) or it's a piece of the engine itself (something that's broken off from fatigue or failure).

I'm guessing dirt could be from poor maintenance by the previous owner. As for something coming from the engine ... the one thing that pops to mind is a piece of one of those lifter heads maybe?

Have you ever found the actual thing that broke the screen?

I have an update.

I went to my buddy's house, got the trailer again, picked up a car with it.

I couldn't have asked for a better running/pulling truck on stock tune.

I went about 130miles all back roads on a quarter tank. With the trailer and a car on it. I was amazed.

Before I would do about 60miles on a quarter tank empty.

Now, my only concern is when is it going to blow again....

My oil filters have always been clean, oil has always been clean, not chunky or anything standing out.

I have no problems putting a flush in my oil and changing it again if I have too.

I just want my mpg to stay the way they are now, and I want to be worry free

Last winter / spring when you did your head studs and oil cooler, how careful were you with the oil cooler off. I remember Cheezit helped you then and mentioned it was somewhat common to accidentally get some of the debris down in the reservoir with the oil cooler off. Is it possible that you got some down there and it is slowly being drawn into your HP oil system?
How long did you have the truck before you put the studs in and did you experience any issues with the IPR then?

I thought it was all fairly clean when i did it all.

I had the truck for about 2 months before i did the studs and all.

No problems with it until it all went haywire from there, egr cooler, oil cooler...etc

So basically there could still be dirt under my oil cooler causing it to blow my ipr out?

Is there any kind of flush or something I can run?

Why would you go through all the work you have previously done and use a Fram oil filter ??? I think you might have answered your own question.

tyler, i usually use a motorcraft filter. it's FL-2016. can't go wrong wif tat. btw, u might want to try some marvel mystery oil b4 u do an oil change. tat way, it'll turn watever gunk into liquid and flows out of the drain pan faster and smoother.

u can get both items from the large walmarts. best of luck to u!

No, just the opposite. Its common knowledge the Fram unit for the 6.0 that replaces the stock cap is problematic.
At my friends work they have a 6.0 giving all kinds of trouble so i go over and take a look at it.
I spy the Fram filter cover and say to change that 1st. No one believed that filter could be the cause of all the problems.
Filter changed and truck all good.
Sorry for all your trouble but please stay with motorcraft filters in this truck.
