There was a thread on here about an explorer or one of the larger SUV's that had a problem with the door switches. Another poster wrote in and said the switches where made in the door latch, and to spray some wd-40 up in the latch to unstick the switches. If I remember, I think it fixed it. Is your truck made like that?
I'm really not sure where the sensor is, but I can't see anything from the outside. Sometimes it just goes off after about 5 minutes, but sometimes stays on for longer. It gets anoying at night when the dome lights stay on. I will try the wd-40 thing for now. Thanks.
Did you ever get the problem fixed? I have the same truck in 4x4 and in super cab. I had the same problem and did get it fixed, let me know if you still need help.
This is a very common problem. If you watch the '97 and newer board you see this about every week. The fix is do spray the door latch with VAST quantities of WD-40 to clean the switch off. open/shut the door a few times and then spray some more. Should fix your problem.
