Seth, I think the running boards are the same as regular F-4 thru F-8 trucks. I have a set from a F-6 I'm going to try to use....

How is the COE coming along? Any updates?

Hey Scott.
wow is there anyway you can post a picture of that f6 running board??
I bought the engine and trans last week,the trans got deiivered on saturday and the engine was supposed to be delivered tonight.
I started making those bottom steps but I didnt like em so I will scrapp them and start over.
Im still deciding if I should leave the wheel base at 110" or if I should shorten it a wee bit more.
I am still deciding If I will be using an f1 bed and fenders or If I want to make my own bed to resemble a tow truck..
My son Is fascinated with tow trucks since he was very little and then "Matter" came along and hes gotten worst...
He is also obsessed about busses and motorcycles,I even thought about making a real shorty short bus with 110 wb and the coe cab but I am not that brave....
I should be getting this thing running soon.

COE running boards are completely different than F4-F8/Panel truck storty boards. COE boards are shorter in length and wider to accomodate for the larger fenders. You'd basically have to cut a large chunk from the middle and bring the two ends together, then expand the width of the step area.

Take a look at the link for good photos and inspiration for a tow truck build. http://tow411.yuku.com/topic/27034/t...d-project.html

Thanks Ilya.
I am going to say that I like the tow truck he started with looks better than what he ended up with...

How wider are the f6 RB compared to the COE;s???
If its a couple of inches shorter I wouldnt mind

Since I've never seen any COE boards up close, I was just guessing.

Ilya, do you have a pic of some COE boards you can post? Now I'm curious.

Unfortunately, the only pictures I can post of the COE boards are from the net. I had some pix of my own from the past two COEs that went through my hands, but my photo hosting website shutdown without notice and I can't retrieve any of my (close to 5,000) photos.

You can see the boards in the link that I posted earlier.

Hello
I have my both steps taken off from the truck, so I will try to take pictures and main dimensions for you tomorrow, if it is not too late. The one under the battery is not in very good shape but enough for measuring.

Hello
I forgot to mention that my ford is an F5 -51, hope these were the steps you were talking about.

The steps are mirror images of each other (except the battery cover attachments) and the rear outer corner radius is about the same as the cab corner radius. I put some measures in the other picture, hope it gives you an idea. If you need some other measures, i`ll take them of course.
The measures are centimeters, cause I live in metric world

The front edges, where these are attached to the fenders, are both gone as you see. the edge around the step is about 7cm.

Centimeter to inch conversion

So that would be:

57cm = 22.4in
59cm = 23.2in
58cm = 22.8in
33cm = 13.0in
29cm = 11.4in
24cm = 9.4in

Happy Thanksgiving!
