Valve Cover Gaskets Replacement - Question
I will be going under the valve covers for the first time in order to replace some glow plugs and check my harness connection. I was reading the Winter Cold Start threads and came across a post where the poster was talking about re-using a gasket during his valve cover removal, but I couldn't tell if he was talking about the valve cover gasket or some other component (possibly in the harness connection?). Can you tell me if the valve cover gaskets are ment to be re-useable? I also would be interested if you have any particularly good sources on purchasing new ones.

Valve cover gaskets are part of the uvch and do not need to be replaced. Might want to do the 50 cent mod an retorque everything while you have the vc's off. Its a pretty easy job just taking the bolts off near the firewall are in a kind of a tight spot.

Great info Greg! Lots of useful tips in there.
Another question: Sounds like most guys just et the torque wrench and tighten, maybe add a 1/4 turn over? In other words, no need to loosen before re-torquing, right?
