TPMS blinks at start up

My TPMS dash light blinks for about 20 seconds every time I turn the key on. After that it goes off. Is this normal or is there a problem? It only does this at start up or when I first turn the key to the on position. All of my tires are inflated correctly, The spare is also correctly inflated but does not appear to have a TPMS sensor, at least not in the valve stem.

Any ideas? Does the wheel/tire placement on the vehicle make any difference? I wouldn't think it would as it only displays the tire symbol & not the overhead view of all 4 tires.

Found out what it was. one of the TPMS sensors has a low battery, it will communicate with the TPMS scan/reset tool but doesn't communicate with the vehicle. Basically I need a new TPMS sensor in one of the wheels. It's time to replace all four of them as they are almost 8 years old but at $70 each I think I'll pass. I always keep my tires properly inflated anyways.

I hear ya. The TPMS light in my Expedition always blinks a bit when it's cold and always has. I keep the tires aired up as appropriate so I ignore it.
